This is based on the drawing from
1-22-07, At Rest. It is my first oil pastel and I can see that it will take some time to do satisfactory paintings in this medium. And like the scribbles, only less so, these paintings are stopped just short of being "finished." This is what my preference is for now. I want to scribble, sketch, and paint quickly and with enthusiasm without getting into any detail or representationalism. There are exaggerations in the depiction, symbolic for me regarding dancers.
